This particular conflict last the entire book. This conflict is just in favor of Miles and Alaska, despite the fact that Alaska never knew how he felt about her. Miles had a crush on Alaska the entire book, but after dating Lara and realizing Alaska loves her boyfriend, he doesn't know what to do with those feelings, until Alaska died.

How to get out of the labyrinth

This conflict is first introduced when Miles and Alaska met. Alaska explains to Miles how her lasting question throughout life is "How to get out of the labyrinth." This question comes up during situations of anger or sadness throughout the book. This happens to be a conflict left for the reader to answer themselves.

Alaska's death was unexpected and unexplained. Chip, Miles, and Takumi set out to find out why she died. Analyzing and logic wasn't enough and eventually all three came to an opifany. They realized that they won't ever know why she decided to kill herself or if she did kill herself for that matter, but they forgive her for leaving them in sorrow and she forgives them for letting her go.
